Performance must be continuously evaluated after deployment, with incident reporting obligations.
This is the foundation of future ADAS compliance in Europe. Since the EU is a huge market, car makers worldwide (in the US, Asia, etc.) will likely adopt these high standards for all their global products to simplify manufacturing, a phenomenon often called the “Brussels Effect“.

The Global Impact: Beyond Europe
The AI Act applies beyond just Europe. If your AI system is placed on the EU market or its output is used in the EU, compliance is required. That includes manufacturers in the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, and beyond.
Non-EU companies now face a decision:
- Maintain region-specific standards.
- Or adopt EU-level governance globally for consistency.
Historically, European regulation has influenced global standards, for example, GDPR or C-Type cables for Apple iPhones. It is reasonable to expect similar ripple effects for AI safety governance. Costs will increase. Development timelines may extend, but the regulatory predictability also reduces long-term liability exposure.

The competitive formula is changing.
Previously: Innovation + Safety Certification = Market Access
Now: Innovation + Safety Certification + AI Governance = Market Access
Engineering performance must be paired with documented accountability, traceability, and data governance.
